Art in Shadows is a 3 hour workshop that is designed to give students an unique, indepth and hands-on appraoch to an unusual form of art that will deepen their understanding of their creative works, strengthen critical thinking, and broaden life experiences. This is accomplished using the everyday median that is shadows. Students should come to the workshop ready to participate in teams and create unique forms of art, while learning some history of the different forms of shadow art.
The program will encompass shadow art in many different medians, some using paper, some using themselves. This program is great for those insterested in varying disciplines of visual arts as well as performing arts.
Students will be able to leave with art they have created themselves as well as new skills they may never have known they had. They will cover how layers can create depth by using shadows, how to create artistic shadows using just their own bodies, advanced shadow puppetry as well as our signature freehand silhouette artistry.
With only 30 freehand silhouette artists left in the world, this is an artform that is rarely seen. With many silhouette artists also claiming that the skill cannot be taught, it is a class that is especially rare to ever see.
