About:

Our Shelter Building incursion puts student’s team building skills to the test as they work towards building a durable outdoor shelter. Students will be required to design their shelter so that it works within their budget and considers various design elements including suitability of materials. Not only that, their shelter must protect the whole group from the harshest weather conditions including Hurricane Supreme!

During this incursion we will discuss various types of natural and human-made shelters and examine why they are built the way they are. Students will need to use their Shelter Building money wisely and brainstorm needs vs wants as well as working out refunds and exchanges. This requires communication, negotiation and team work to complete the task. This team based incursion is lots of outdoor fun for everyone!

Our qualified teachers are fantastic at tailoring sessions to link subjects such as Mathematics, English, Design & Technology, Health & Physical Education and with a focus on working mathematically, basic economics, construction, sustainability and teamwork.
