The Youth Bands Program has been created with the express wish and aim to educate young musicians in the ways of musicianship. This is quite different from teaching a student music. We teach our students how to turn those notes and techniques they learn from their teachers, into something that communicates with their listeners’ hearts and souls.
We teach our students how to convey emotion, wonder, action and fantasy through their instruments. This needs to be achieved not only as an individual musician, but also within an ensemble environment. Musicians need to be able to work with their peers in a band, orchestra or chamber ensemble and still achieve this sublime effect.
This is a challenge that is learnt through the ensemble experience, under expert supervision and guidance. We are able to provide your children an environment where the music they play will increase in standard from piece to piece. We also open their eyes and ears to who and what is around them.
We teach them how to work together. To compliment this we concentrate on the individual instruments too, during our section tutorial sessions. We help each individual student to develop their own understanding of their instrument both at an individual level and within the context of an ensemble.
