Workshop 1: Origins, the Rainbow Serpent
We go back to the beginning of the Aboriginal Dreamtime and learn about the story of the Rainbow Serpent. The children will learn how the land and animals are believed to have been created and the significance this story has to the Aboriginal people. With use of a 2 metre x 2 metre backdrop, the children help re-create the land, mountains, and billabongs. We talk about the origin of the Dreamtime dot painting and the stories these pictures tell as well as the importance of animal totems in Aboriginal culture. Children will learn about the strong, spiritual connection to the land that is a part of every aspect of Aboriginal culture and make their own commitment to the land and animals.
Use of original music from Tjupurru, our Indigenous Guide, and songs and music from local indigenous children around Brisbane.
Our interactive workshop includes a full presentation, creative art sections, and calming circle to finish.
Workshop 2: Uluru
Our new ‘Uluru’ show ventures round the base of Uluru as we meet native animals, learn about some of the Aboriginal creation stories of Uluru, and the beautiful artwork found in the caves.
We learn about local bush tucker, and the roles the Anunga men and women.
We create a landscape of animals on our Uluru backdrop. We also all get the opportunity to use clap sticks during a special song.
Our interactive workshop includes a full presentation, creative art sections, and calming circle to finish.
