LionDanceMe is a performance arts team using cultural lion dance to educate young Australians about Asian culture. Our team emphasizes on creating a safe and supportive environment, using a range of creative learning techniques that focus on team bonding and building self-confidence.
Our aim is to encourage students to express themselves freely through the art of Lion Dance by developing their sense of awareness and self-confidence. LionDanceMe recently cooperated with a number of schools and classes have been well received by the students who have represented their school at their regional spectaculars by performing a Dragon and Lion Dance routine.
Our multisensory teaching approach ensures a greater retainability amongst students, and we’ve have found that this encourages students to be more active in their roles and also helps in developing interest and increasing their ability to recall critical components.
At our workshops, students will be exposed to the historical background of Lion Dance and learn basic martial arts movements and lion dancing routine, guided by our instructors and experienced teachers.
Sydney has a large percentage of students with an Asian background, and hence we believe that the LionDanceMe’s workshop will be a perfect opportunity for these students to connect with their heritage and develop a sense of cultural identity. This workshop will also give other students a window to form a better understanding of Asian traditional cultures.
